Endomychus

The generic name means 'lurking within the innermost parts (of a house)'. Does anyone know why it has that name? Just wondered whether it is found lurking inside houses, or whether the word is being more generally used to mean 'secretive'?

In my experience it lurks in

In my experience it lurks in the deepest crevices of birch-bark, both as larvae and adults.

Lurker

Thanks, Mydaea. That makes sense, then, and satisifies my curiosity on a rainy day!
