Description:

At first I thought this may be Eupeodes luniger but the yellow on the abdomen extends to the sides (as can be seen on the second photo, which would seem to rule out Eupeodes. I think it may be a Syrphus sp. but doesn't appear to match any of the species in Ball & Morris (2013) 'Britain's Hoverflies'.

Thanks

Ball & Morris does actually contradict its statement re. Eupeodes, and states that corollae can match this image. Thanks for the id.
