Wasp collage

Perhaps 18mm long, certainly longer than common wasp worker. It was slowly moving around a rudbeckia flower apparently consuming pollen - it was getting pollen on itself. It seemed rather more 'furry' than I expect from a wasp and the area above the mandibles was especially so - but perhaps I have not looked carefully enough before.

Thanks, Steve. Having looked at the other photos on this site I think you are right. I was put off by the absence of a black spot on the face above the mandibles but I see that this is not always present.
