Plump mushroom

Observed: 20th August 2013 By: scyrenescyrene’s reputation in Fungi and Lichensscyrene’s reputation in Fungi and Lichens

A smallish mushroom, growing near a path amongst woodland. A fat cream-coloured stalk, caramel coloured cap, paler round the edges. It has gills (hard to see in the photo).

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

Are you sure it had gills?

Are you sure it had gills? Looks very much like B. edulis which would have pores like Blewit Boy suggests

The more I know the more I realise I don't know

Yes, apologies. I was sure it looked to have gills, but I went back and examined it closely, and it did indeed have pores.
