Old bolete perhaps?

Description:

I found this bolete type mushroom today but I'm not holding out much hope in the way of an ID. It was very soft, smelly and about two inches across. I presume the bright yellow is down to the dropping spores, it looked quite eyecatching.

Identifications

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

The yellow is the Bolete being attacked by a mould. Hypomyces chrysospermus is the most likely.

Ah, that makes more sense

Ah, that makes more sense Mal, it was WAY past it's best so the spores should have been long gone.

Many thanks.
