Description:

Sessile, black, onion-shaped perithecia growing on top of flat limestone tombstone. Immediate surrounding area clear with no thallus visible. Two sites on same tombstone shown. (Some of the surrounding area appeared to have previously been occupied by perhaps a Verrucaria species with lots of old immersed perithecia sites.) Possibly Sarcopyrenia gibba.
