Very common, aren't they? Equal numbers of femoratus and culiciformis, where I am.

yesterday I couldn't understand why this wasn't definitely femoratus, but after viewing vouchers of all three collected by Fonesca ('58), the front two pairs of legs look much more like culiciformis. And what really stood out was how shiny the thorax of femoratus is, and how dull on the other two. Difficult to tell here, it might be pale hairs or dusting interrupting the apparently shiny patch showing, not convincing either way
I agree...as always, without a specimen you are usually only guessing, really!
