Hi Paula,

I have agreed with the second ID as the colour and behaviour you mentioned seem most like a shanny. They are adapted to rocky shore life with gills that allow them to breath out of the water, so long as they are still damp. which allows them to be semi amphibious! The common goby on the other hand is much less inquisitive and more likely to disappear than pose for a photo.
