Looks like a juvenile and so sex difficult to ascertain until it starts to moult (unless you can see the tail clearly, as the tail is kept through the winter and is black or dark brown depending on sex).

The male moulting I posted is a case in point - part black, part brown.
Quite interesting to see these southern blackbirds.
Ours are far darker at this stage with much less speckling. Also the bills are very dark already, particularly first brood.
Might need to get that lens out.
