Grey Dagger

Although the Grey and Dark Dagger are very similar in the flight stage they are quite different in the caterpillar stage. I believe you are correct with Grey Dagger and you should enter an ID as such. At present you have an ID (Latin names) of Grey / Dark Dagger.

My Inexperience

Thanks for your comments Chris. I think it is my inexperience with iSpot that is also at fault. I thought it was Acronicta psi but when I entered the ID I incorrectly allowed Acronicta psi/ tridens to be selected. I will try to change.

Daggers

Further to Chris above moth cannot be readily distinguished as an adult from Grey Dagger (Acronicta psi) except by examination of the genitalia, CATERPILlARS are not a problem as the species are quite different.
