Philodromus is in the Philodromidae which are now referred to as 'running crab spiders', whilst the Thomisidae are the 'crab spiders'. But, that's why it's better to use scientific names I suppose - less confusion.

I've got hold of a copy of Spiders of Britain and N. Europe by Roberts now.
I see Roberts didn't seem very convinced about Thomisidae and Philodromidae being elevated to family status at the time.
