In Dorset this is the dominant plant along most grassy tracks in April. Seems to be getting more common.
Ground-ivy was used for tinnitus, ringing in the ear. You stuff it in your ear and the ringing will go away - so says John Gerard an Elizabethan doctor. Mind you he also says eye drops of ground-ivy, celandine, daisy, sugar and rose water will cure all sorts of eye complaints from itching to cataracts.
In Wales they used to put it in ale bacause they beleived it helped avoid the headaches associated with hangovers!
