Two of these have been found eating the leaves of a marginal pond plant.
No interactions present.
I've only seen the green form of these on one previous occasion... they were feeding on Menyanthes trifoliata (Bog Bean). I must say that the plants in this pic look very like Menyanthes
Well, the caterpillar has confirmed itself as definitely being an Elephant Hawk Moth. After wintering in the garage it has emerged today in all it's glory. Tonight it will presumably head off into the dark and hopefully find others of its own kind.
