Very similar to C lagopus

Never seen it, but what a fine specimen. It's not always the brightest or biggest that are impressive.
Was there any evidence of burnt ground as I can't see any in the photo, and the moss would suggest to me that there is dead wood there which would suggest Coprinopsis lagopus.
I had it down as C lagopus "in the field" but took it home anyway. There was no sign of burnt wood but the microscopic detail made lagopus impossible.
