Lesser Black-backed Gull pinching food on the steps of Swansea Bay.
No interactions present.
Lesser Black-backed Gulls are actually slightly smaller and slimmer than Herring Gulls (unlike the Great B-b Gull).
This one is of the race that commonly breeds in Britain, L. f. graellsii, which has a dark grey rather than black back.
The original identification was largely swayed by the yellow legs whereaas I believe the legs of Herring Gulls are more pink. My fault but I neglected to suggest a size which was around a foot tall (from a very bad memory). Judging the scale of the bird is made more dificult by the deceptive size of the steps leading down to the bay. Nice bird, though. Friendly. Until it took some of my lunch.
