Saw this at the side of the road while on a hike in Hiiumaa, Estonia but don't know what it is...any idea?

The story goes these were introduced to Latvia in 1948 for the fur trade and has expanded throughout eastern Scandinavia.
The only animal a raccoon dog could be mistaken for is a raccoon and they have not spread into Latvia, yet.
