I would not attempt a subspecies from juvenile plumage...I am not sure that Pied and White are separable at that age. Location makes Pied more likely, though.

I agree , and the locallity as you say makes it likely but not a certainty hence not "As sure as I Can be" Juv Plumage is always an issue would make an nice omparitive post compare Juv White / Pied Plumage (on ringing ) !! I have widened th taxonomy to allow agreement !!

You could go for Motacilla alba with full certainty. I'd agree with that...it was only doubt over ssp yarrellii or alba.

North-east for me (York area, anyway). Lots of flies being potted up at the moment...its just finding time to sort them all through! Dolichopodid time is just drawing to a close, so grabbing as many as I can before they finish. :)
