Call them what you will, they are vicious. I once spent a hot day fencing on a wetland reserve, and my shirt was covered in "roundels" where I'd been bitten, bled a little, then perspiration had performed a sort of salt-water chromatography on the fabric. Not an attractive sort of tie-dye pattern!
