Amazingly, on BBC TV last night, a top person from English Nature (or whatever their latest name is) told a group of children a plant was Ploughman's Spikenade, when it was obviously Viper's Bugloss. Perhaps he should join iSpot!
I once took a group of school pupils on a visit to a Woodland Trust site where the warden told us all that Wood Anemone was Wild Garlic and thats what the smell was.
In fact the wild garlic foliage was being trampled underfoot and the flower he was passing around was definately Wood Anemone!
Great to have faith in the guardians of our wild spaces!
