Male Green-veined Whites 'mud-puddling'

Green-veined Whites on mud

These butterflies were on mud so it is assumed they were mud-puddling (taking in mud through the proboscis(?) for nutrients prior to mating.
There were 100+ Green-veined Whites flying around the rush bed but not landing - an emergence?
