Size

Hi Clare.

Not sure on exact size of this one in the photo...this species is 12-16mm. I do know this was one of the larger i've come across, so i expect its approx 16mm.

Regards Chris...

Ocypus brunnipes instead?

If shape of head clearly visible, it's no big deal to tell apart.
If not:
T. morsitans: Elytra a bit longer in relation to pronotum, the latter distinctly more shining.
The species are frequently confused on the web!!!
