This guy was between 0.5cm and 1cm in length, and was sitting in a garden bush. Any idea what he is? Thanks!

One of a fascinating family of flies which hijack bumblebees in flight, depositing an egg in the bee within a split second. The egg develops and the larvae then devour the living bee from within and finish their life cycle within the bee, before emerging the next spring as an adult. This is perhaps the commonest of these conopid flies.

That's really gruesome, yet fascinating information! Who knew I'd learn so much about insects by having an interest in photography! :)
