Description:

There was a splashing a few metres from the shore of a lake. It was a group of males assaulting one male in copula with a female. There was quite a struggle. The whole sequence of 5 shots lasted less than 6 seconds - and the "fight" was over. I think the others were trying to displace the male in copula. How normal is this behaviour?

I see it on the local pond

I see it on the local pond but not so many at a time, usually two trying to displace the busy male.
