Acetabularia

I wondered why this name was familier, even though it is not found in British waters, so I looked it up on Wikipedia - 'Acetabularia is a single-celled organism, but gigantic in size and complex in form, making it an excellent model organism for studying cell biology.' Must have heard of it in my student days.
