Captured this on camera last year, but up to now I can't get a positive I.D. - can anyone help ?
No interactions present.
I've had a message from Guy Knight of the national recording scheme for sawflies to say that this isn't Hemichroa. He thinks it is in genus Pamphilius, and the closest match is the rather scarce Pamphilius betulae (which feeds on Aspen as a larva), but it's not a perfect match and there's just a chance that it could be Pamphilius festivus, which has never been found in Britain before!
Unfortunately we won't be able to confirm it from the photo alone, but if you see another one please do take lots of photos from different angles and/or keep a specimen to pass on to Guy for confirmation.
