Moth trapping in the south east

Has anyone else just caught the moth trapping bug?
What type of weather conditions and time of year do you think bring in the most interesting catch?

All year really

There is stuff to see every month of the year and if you've just started lots of it will be new.

Late May - early August is probably the period that produces the most species and moths in a trap.

More moths tend to fly in warm weather so that is good, but at this time of year anything other than gale force winds / torrential downpour will get you something.

In the cooler months overcast nights, which tend to stay warmer, seem pretty important.

Getting to different habitats is good too if you want to see different things. I'm still adding new species by trapping on chalk in the Surrey hills this year.
