Pictures taken by a friend of mine on a recent trip to the island of Svalbard in the Arctic region of Norway

An excellent picture showing the main distinguishing features of an adult bearded seal.
Note the very large, angular front flippers, remind me of the front paws of a mole; the distinctive dark 'panda' eye pattern and bold patterning of the face - this is not always obvious and the faces can even be an orange/gingery colour; also the dark stripe down the back, again not always obvious.
Your friend is an excellent photographer, these are great photos of Arctic mammals.
