Description:

After visiting in December I made a note to come back to Cushendall in the Spring, to look for lizards. It is a little later than that now but didn't disappoint! A selection of some of the lizards spotted today.

Excellent Philip,Would you

Excellent Philip,

Would you believe I havent recorded a lizard there yet but its simply a matter of not being on that path due to being off road altogether more inland in general. My brother did see one there a couple of years back, I think I had told you that last year. Im made up that your trip there wasnt in vain, brilliant!

Theyll be out basking in style over the next few days, they might even have to take cover in the middle of the day if the forecast is accurate.

Just the right conditions

Brightness through cloud that day, not too warm (about 17C). Actually saw 11 of them! If its going to be sunny and warm they won't need to show themselves. (Cushendall now nominated for lizard capital of NI!)

Result...I must have a look

Result...I must have a look myself, can't believe there arent reports of them going around the village. Isnt it incredible to think that the majority of people still look baffled when you suggest there are native lizards here. --I thought those were tropical....

Might be a few reports

I pointed the one on the boardwalk out to a couple of elderly ladies (older than myself, that is!) Mind you, they almost stood on it before they could see it!
