Description:

Growing on either the peat soil, or a piece of wood buried in it. Gills light brown, stem solid, fibrous. Strong mushroom odour. Cap showing signs of cracking.
The damselfly was either a mushroom fan or just camera-happy.

Agaricus - any offers?

You might consider Agrocybe Cylindracea.
Roger Phillips description includes cap at 4-10cm ? habitat especially willows and poplars ? This species is rare.

There are willows and (I think) poplars on the site.
