Not a great snap but I couldn't care because this is the first puffin I have ever seen. The joys of being a novice.

Love the description - garish soft toy!
Possibly doesn't count as a scientific description.
.. on reading that I almost felt envious, I remember my first Puffin clearly. Although I'm far from a grizzled old veteran I seem to see far fewer new species now, which I suppose makes any additions more special but I miss the thrill when what seemed to be regular sightings to other birders were still new to me. Still get excited when I remember my first Kingfisher, and other firsts too, anyway, nice spot!!
Feel free to look at my ongoing (hopefully improving) collection of pictures on Flickr:
Although retired, I'm still very new to this birdwatching caper. I still have lots of firsts to looks forward to.
It's a pity I couldn't get a better snap. It was too far away and I was shaking with fear at the top of the cliffs. Certainly out of my comfort zone.
