staying with my aunt & she has 4 catterpillers on the ceiling of her balcony(4th floor) they all look like they have babies! at 1st i thought they were being eaten by whatever they are laying ontop of, but after watching them for sometime today they really look like they have teeny tiny babies...they are not all together their quite spaced out...is it possible for them to have live young??
I dont think they are young and if they where hatching eggs they would be on the food plant not the ceiling , I wonder if it is a hairy caterpillar if it has a mite infestation - like bees Perhaps some one will add to your post

I would say that you have it about right Colin; mite infestation.
Thanks Robert but I would be the first to say I could be wrong
Great Selection of images of recently on your posts putting Chine on the Map
Its the hope to put the chine on the map and I have just handed all of my records and photographs over to the entomologist of the Bournemouth Natural Science Society [BNSS] for them to play with.
You have set him a task then !!! Great Work and maybe a little way in keeping such places special
