Deporaus is a weevil (a beetle) which makes a roll of a birch leaf to lay its eggs in. There are probably other weevils (and other invertebrates!) that do something similar - I've guessed at the species! Once the eggs are hatched the larvae feed on the wilted (unrolled) leaf remains then drop to the ground to pupate.
