Do crickets shed their skin? and how mant types of cricket are there in the UK? What is their main predator?
Orthoptera shed their skins to grow, the different stages being known as instars.
Your pic' is of an early instar, almost certainly of a grasshopper.
As to the number of British species - that will depend on whether you are counting crickets, bush-cricket, grasshoppers, groundhoppers etc.
Main predator? That will depend on species as that will determine habitat and life-style, and hence the predators likely to meet with it, but they are on the menu of many and varied creatures, from pygmy shrews to badgers, from small passerines to hobys.
