This is potentially a new site for this species - a recent colonist - see http://www.eakringbirds.com/eakringbirds3/insectinfocusramburspiedshield... and http://www.britishbugs.org.uk/heteroptera/Cydnidae/tritomegas_sexmaculat...
Indeed it is Rambur's - a very good record, and well worth contacting Tristan Bantock about this - see:
http://www.britishbugs.org.uk/recording.html (Terrestrial Heteroptera: shieldbugs and allies).
Thanks Rob and Joe for the I.D's and info re this insect. What a shock and pleasant surprise to find a rarity. I only called in at the site where it was seen to look for Thames Barges, took no equipment other than the camera having a short break not intending to look for insects, but of course the urge to seek is always there.
Have sent an e-mail to Tristan with details and photo's.
Thanks again Peter alias malyon
