here you can see a comparison of the extra spots visible on your fly with the usual pedissequum

..it's fairly widespread but little is known about X.stackelbergi and we need all the specimens we can get

Thanks Jeremy, interesting stuff.

Unfortunately I don't have any better diagnostic angles, but I've uploaded the only different angle I have. A little more of the underside is visible, but I don't think it adds much!

the extra two images show features for both types. The wing and yellow markings look like a typical pedissequum, but the sides and the dark facial stripe, thinning towards the frons on what appears to be a female, suggest the other species. So reinforcing the need for a specimen I'm afraid, and this one would be fascinating. I tend to see 2 or 3 of these a day but just the odd one like this with apparently mixed features
