Dear Charlieb, thank you for the identification.What are the tergites?My Dad didn't think anyone could identify it because it's wings are covering its body, so well done!

The tergites are (in this case) the bits beneath the wings.

The abdomen is made up of a number of segments, each of which has a top part and a bottom part. The top parts are called tergites, the bottom parts sternites.

Look through the wings on your specimen and you should see the orange colouration.
