These 've been out in various places for a little while now. On Sunday we went out to give my new bionic eyeball a test run and, though the overcast made things slow, my local patch did produce several - I counted six or so - White-legged Damselflies.
Slowness helps get the macro lens on them, though. ;-)

Hi John, sadly I have to travel to see these damselflies which are one of my favourites. I did have a colony quite near to me on the Basingstoke Canal but I watched the numbers drop from 50 odd in 2008 to 2 in 2011 and none last year.

That's very sad, Chris

Last year really was a dog for dragonflies - well, insects in general.

I keep thinking , "this year can't be as bad as last year" but the weather keeps proving me wrong.

Really good photo

I wonder if these are found anywhere local to me? The maps I have are in a 35-year old book!

That's too old

You could really do with a new book with more up to date range information. They can still be very habitat specific, though.
