If basal leaves are hard to come by...

...you can rip one of the flowers apart (I know, I know,) and check the sepals with a hand lens for anastomosing veins - if the veins split up, head for the edge, then join up again, it's Common Milkwort.

Easiest to see if you hold the sepal up to the light.

"We join together on the Common".
