I didn't measure it at the time as it was clearly far too large to be a pygmy shrew. Perhaps 10cm from nose to tip of tail but I'm only guessing.

I agree with Gill this looks to be a pygmy, not only is the tail long (would be less than 50% of body length) and hairy it is also too thick to be a common shrew.

10cm would be too large for even common shrew, assuming you are talking about the body.

Common shrew - 8cm body; 11cm including tail
Pygmy shrew - 6cm body; 10cm including tail

These are maximum measurements. Sorry Bob if you are trying to get a common shrew for your 1000 in 1 !
