Hypochaeris

Can't do this with a photo, but with the plant in hand if you pull out a bunch of the yellow ligules from the edge of the flower head and spread them out in your hand you will find, if it's Hypochaeris, a few colourless scales (sometimes with a touch of yellow towards the tip) about a third to half the length of the ligules and about 1mm wide. Very thin and wispy. Only Hypochaeris has these. A winner every time.
