Female

A female and the greenish wings suggests the Banded Demoiselle.

Wing colour suggests Banded Demoiselle...

As does the position of the false pterostigmas (the white spots on the wings) which are close to the tip.

Why is there such a difference in colouration?

Not sure exactly what you mean.

If you mean why are there differences in wing colour between female Banded Demoiselles, it is a combination of factors including age and plain old individual variation.
