I'd love to see one of these

I'd love to see one of these - almost more than anything else. And these are in your garden? I feel a twinge of longing.

Pine martins in the garden

I've envied you your garden before but now doubly so!

Fantastic piece of video, I've added it to my favorites just to watch it again. My nephew, on the edge of Loch Lomond, gets pine martins in his garden; but never on the days when I'm staying with him, always the day before or the day after!

I know we are lucky

I also know how you feel about miss seeing them, we are having the same with killer whales. Since the beginning of the month a pod have been seen near the Stoer Lighthouse. That's only 10 miles from us and we have been over a number of times and seen no sign of them, only to see they have been reported the day after.

Killer whales

Don't get me started on killer whales! I always miss them as well. I remember working on Skokholm and sitting at the southern point watching a family pod of Rissos dolphins. When I got back all excited after watching them for over an hour I found out that there had been three killer whales hanging around the northern point for most of the morning - of course gone by the time I raced there! Mind you I did enjoy watching the Rissos especially as they were jumping out of the water and there was a very young one playing with its mum.

In case anybody is visiting

In case anybody is visiting Assynt this summer this video of Pine Martens in our garden http://youtu.be/xGDE40TkFdI is showing in the Lochinver Visitors Centre, but more interestingly they also have a live video stream of a Golden Eagle nest which at present has one chick.

Update on the pine martens.

Have been thinking we would have no Kits visiting the garden this summer, but then almost to the day of previous years two kits arrived with mum. They are now coming early evening every day, we have found that we do not need to look out for them just listen for the Siskin warning calls which greets their arrival. I have added a photo of the family group and there are many more on my Flickr page address below
