Description:

I'm used to seeing yellow flowers and was taken aback with the white flower (is this normal?). I think my ID is still ok, but happy to be corrected.

The colour of the flowers of Sonchus oleraceus is variable ...

... and paler flowers are not uncommon, though I've never seen one where the outer ligules were actually white.

Before I got the knack of distinguishing the foliage, I used there paler flowers as a means of positively identifying Sonchus oleraceus.
