I may be being dense but I cannot work out what the spindly plant in photo 2 is! Any ideas?
Do you mean you can only see part of the image Graeme ? Expanding will be bring in the flowers at top definitely a hawkweed of Sorts (I-spot can trun cate images of odd dimensions there i a lavender there I think ???

The Hawkweed is growing at the edge of a bank of Lavender.
There is also part of a Hairy Tare in the photo!
