Description:

Dense cocoons on Spindle-trees in hedgerow - I thought at first they were spiders webs but caterpillers clearly visible within some...many cocoons at different stages of development. Other species interspersed between the Spindle - hazel, blackthorn, elder - were not affected. Not a lot of Spindle around here and looks like this is in for a hard time- anyone know what the culprir is?
