Curious what this species has these bright purple cones?

Don't worry! Someone else has already added P abies, so I wonder if that's what it is.
I was rather thinking of Abies sp. rather than Picea sp. but I'm not sure neither. Actually, it looks like the cones-to-be (if that's what's the red buds are) are going to be pending: so Picea is a better bet.
... which is the conifer that I know has strikingly colored cones, but that has erect cones. A bit of googling came up with Picea mariana, but I'm not convinced.
