Thanks Mydaea, I'm very new to identifying invertebrates, I take it you mean hind leg is black except for the first part (femur). C. pellucida is said to favour flower meadows and woodland margins - which is where I found this. "Sailor Beetle" is from a description of C pellucida on a website (Gardensafari) I've no idea whether it is really called this, should one just abandon common names in cases like this. Paul
