I've seen these quite regularly in my garden in Lamberhurst, Kent, UK. Would love to hear what they are. Approx 10mm long and iridescent gold/black as you can see in Natureneedsnurture's pictures - which are much better than the ones I took (although I have them if required).

I think this is a beetle in

I think this is a beetle in the genus Poecilus, although you can't see the characters needed to be absolutely sure. Likely to be either P. cupreus or P. versicolor.
