Very difficult to see any

Very difficult to see any distinctive features from this angle. Don't suppose you took any pictures showing the side/underneath? Smooth & Palmate Newts can be difficult to distinguish and this photo does not show the back feet clearly to see if they are webbed.

Hi. Sorry no I didn't take any other photos, but I'm pretty sure the back feet weren't webbed. We get quite a lot of newts in the garden and as far as I know we've never seen one with webbed feet. Next time I get the chance to take some photos, I'll try and get better shots of the feet though. Many thanks.

Only male palmate newts have

Only male palmate newts have webbed feet and only during the breeding season. The best photo to be sure would be a shot of the throat and belly.
