Willow eating bug

Observed: 31st May 2013 By: Rústica Natural

This yellow leaf eating bug has desimated a willow hedge. Before the infestation hundreds of lady bugs were seen on the plant, is this a coincidence? The lady bugs had completly red upper tops.
I would like to know more about this bug, how do I irradiate it organically and what else might it eat. Before and after the infestation the red ladybugs were found in large numbers. Is it normal for the larvae to eat leaves as I thought they preferred aphids?
